Obama Administration Caught Red Handed

It should come as no surprise that the American government, currently headed by the Obama Administration, has major skeltons in its closet. A new book by Jeremy Scahill entitled "Dirty Wars: The World Is  A Battlefield", addresses one such skeleton - the 2011 assassination of two U.S. citizens, Anwar al-Awlaki and his 16 year old son Abdulrahman in Yemen (along with other reportings of U.S. secret operations in Somalia, Yemen and Afghanistan).

Lauryn Hill Faces Jail Time (Say it aint so!!!)

The time that all Lauryn Hill stans have dreded will soon come. The Grammy award winning songstress/rapper is facing jail time for tax evasion. Ms. Hill pleaded guilty to ditching her tax duties from 2005-2007 and now the federal governement wants their money. There is somewhat of a debate as to how much Ms. Hill actually owes to the IRS. Some say over 1 million. Some say under 1 million. Eitherway, it's a lot of money and if not paid, Ms. Hill faces 24-36 months in prison. According to her attorney, it is expected that Ms. Hill will have the full balance  paid by the 6th and will not serve any jail time.

Ms. Hill's music career was on fire in the late 90s but it has been quite some time since she has produced a true hit. However, recent reports state that Ms. Hill signed a multi-million dollar recording contract with Sony Music so maybe, just maybe, this will mean more hits (a.k.a. more money)  for the rapptress in the future.

Only time will tell what will become of this and we do hope Lauryn Hill passes this bump in the road without ever seeing the inside of a jail cell.

 Hopefully, once Selah completes school, she will decide to bless the world with her talent and beauty. As granddaughter of the great Bob Marley and daughter of one of the hottest (female) mcees to ever touch a microphone, Selah is sure to have superstar power. I guess we just have to wait and see what will happen.....

Race In Your Face --- CNN's Mistake.....

CNN recently made a huge mistake by reporting that a "dark skin" bomber suspsect was taken into custody after the horrific bombings at the Boston Marathon. How interesting now that we know what the bombers REALLY look like.

The Hype is a TV talk show for, by and about young women.  Hype tapes once per month on Saturday afternoon's and is looking for a multi ethnic, multi generational studio audience with a focus on having girls between the ages of 12 and 25 in the crowd.  The show airs on Philly Cam on Comcast channel 66/966 and FIOS channel 29/30.  you can also find Hype on ROKU on the IFAME TV channel in the music section of your ROKU device.  

Hype is looking for people to join them on the taping of three episodes on Saturday March 23rd.  The topics include how to be your own boss, non traditional careers panel and why people have trouble staying committed in relationships.  

As an audience member you may get the opportunity to ask questions of of the guests.

Africa and China building a relationship? What's up with that?

Africa is saturated with valuable natural resources and, as a result, has been the long-time victim of colonization and severe exploitation by European countries. Most people know about Europe's involvement with the Mother Land but few ever talk about the relatively new China -- Africa connection.

The continent is home to enormous raw materials, enough to capture the attention of any industrialized nation; China is no exception. Africa is the world's powerhouse of untapped natural resources; in fact it has about 99 percent of the world's chrome, 85 percent platinum, 68 percent cobalt, 54 percent gold and other precious minerals (Nevin 2008)."
